Hey Folks!

After an awesome summer of shows, an August northeast tour, and a number of good gigs last September and October, we decided it's time for a website update!

First off, We have had an awesome bass player with us for these past few months, the fabulous Miss Hasee Ciaccio! Although she is just under 5ft tall, you would never know from listening to her dominate that upright bass. Check out our media page and watch some of our videos to see her in action!

Speaking of videos, Tommy has just finished uploading some awesome live footage from our Turnage Theater show. Click Here to check them out! Along with the video update, we have added a store page to the site. You can now purchase our CD, or download some Mp3s right from our website!

Last but certainly not least, We are extremely happy to announce that Jared Ingersol will be helping us with booking starting in 2012! Send any booking inquiries to him and don't worry, you're in good hands! You can check out his website at jaredingersol.com

Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays!

Greetings!

Just in time for Father's Day, our debut album "Footwork" has finally arrived!

You can order a physical copy, (complete with a neat CD insert which we're quite proud of!), or you can download the tracks from CD Baby. Here is the link to our page: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/barefootmovement

We apologize for the delay but we are overjoyed to have the CD's in hand at last! We hope you enjoy the new music, as well as the new recordings of some of our older songs.

Quentin and Noah are headed to the Czech Republic with the Old-Time Pride Band of East Tennessee State University on this coming Tuesday. But they'll soon be back on this side of the pond, with a summer full of Barefoot Movement shows to look forward to.

So in the meantime have a happy Father's Day, a lovely Independence Day, and an all around barefoot-spirited summer!

            Thanks for reading!

Hello fellow Barefooters!

Noah here with an update on the release of our debut record "Footwork." Previous forecasts predicted the arrival of the album to land on May 28th, this past Saturday. Unfortunately, the recent tornadoes in the south affected the facility where our album was being manufactured and duplicated, and thus, we are forced to postpone the official release date until we have the records in hand. I don't want to put another date out there until that happens, so for now, we're just waiting for the records to be completed and shipped, which hopefully won't take more than a week or two. Of course, our situation is not nearly enough to complain about, with all the damage and lives lost from the recent storms. We're happy to get the albums when we get them, and we'll be even happier to finally share them with you.

We have had a lot of inquiries about online purchasing and digital downloading. Both of these options will be made available and we will let everyone know as soon as we get that set up, which shouldn't be long after we receive the physical albums.

Ultimately, we want to sincerely thank everyone who came out to our CD-less Release show! Even without that one crucial element, we had a great time, and we hope you did as well.

We have a ton of dates lined up for this summer so please keep in touch and tell your friends! You can follow us on Facebook and Twitter and you can sign up for our mailing list here:

Thanks for reading and here's to a summer filled with fun and bare feet!

Hello Everyone!

We are excited to announce the release of our first full-length album, "Footwork," from Lonesome Records on May 28th! We will celebrate by having our CD Release show that night at our home base - The Down Home in Johnson City, TN. To the left you will find a picture of the album cover!

As previously announced, the album was produced by veteran singer-songwriter Ed Snodderly. It features 12 songs - 10 originals, and 2 covers, including our version of The Dillards' classic "The Whole World Round" and a version of our founding guitarist and dear friend Andrew Marlin's song "Wasting Time." We will be making the CD available for purchase online as well as for digital downloads on iTunes on May 30. It will also be available at the Barnes and Noble in Johnson City, TN! And of course we'll have it with us at all our summer shows. You can preview some of these new recordings on the homepage and music page of this site, as well as on Myspace and Facebook.

Also, we are pleased to debut our Electronic Press Kit, which is basically a video about us, and about our album. Here's a link to where you can view it:

Hello and thanks for visiting our website. I figured it was time for an update!

We have had a crazy-busy summer. We've hardly been home for more than a few days at a time. I've had to get used to spoiled milk and piled up mail waiting for me when I walk in the door! But it's been perfect. We've made stops all over Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia, and also made it all the way up to Erie, PA and The Big Apple once again. Weve been blessed enough to be able to somewhat support ourselves this summer!

Some exciting things are headed our way. Sometime during this season we will be recording our first full-length album for Lonesome Pine Records. If you get a minute, check our their website. (http://www.lonesomerecords.org/) They have published some really great collections of Appalachian music. Needless to say we are more than excited and grateful to have such an opportunity. We will let you know when the album will be released when we figure all that out.

In May, our mandolinist Tommy Norris graduated from Western Carolina University. One word: YAY!!! Tommy's next step: find gainful employment or take over the world with The Barefoot Movement. Which will happen first??? Stay tuned to find out! It might take a few years for a definitive outcome though!

We're finally making it to the studio next week to record our first full length album for Lonesome Records. We are so honored and excited to have Ed Snodderly producing. If you aren't familiar with his music, you really should look him up. He's one of the best songwriters in the business. We'll be recording at the Grammy winning studio, Maggard Sound in Big Stone Gap, VA with Jim Price engineering. It took some careful deciding on which songs to record, but we think we've come up with a good lineup. More news to come later on when it will be released.

Hopefully we won't be too tired when we head in on Monday morning, after spending all weekend at FloydFest! We'll be there playing Friday morning and several times on the VIP stage. Check our shows page or head to www.floydfest.com for the official schedule and to see the full lineup. Just a few names...Levon Helm, Old Crow Medicine Show, Hackensaw Boys...heck yes!!!

Finally, we've been proud to have Ryan Baisden thumping out the doghouse bass with us this summer. He deserves a medal for putting up with our crazy barefootedness! Pictures to come soon.

Please join our mailing list for more frequent updates! We just acquired a twitter and are trying to be much more web-present so there are plenty of easy ways to keep up. Thanks so much to everyone who's come out to support us thus far.

            Take care and happy summer-ing!

Greetings Honorary Barefooters!

I hope that you all were blessed this holiday season and that the New Year has met you with nothing but graciousness.

We are also booking hard for summer 2010. So far we have a few really awesome festivals on our calendar, but hopefully more will follow. We're definitely planning on returning up north, making a similar trip as we did last year, and we're very stoked about that. Check our Shows page for all the details.

We've added a new feature to our website. You can join our mailing list on the contacts page, so that's cool. Especially since our own Tommy Norris has put the entire website together! Talk about a grassroots movement...

Finally, you may have noticed a new face in our pictures. That is our new guitar player and lead vocalist Quentin Acres, from Oneida, TN. We are very happy to have him on board. Read more about him on our Bio page.

As you probably guessed, all of us are still college students. That has forced certain limitations on us in the past because not all of us have been enrolled at the same school. Fortunately, that period in our history is soon to be over. Tommy, who had been attending Western Carolina University, which is two hours from ETSU, where the rest of us go, will graduate in the spring. Of course, for this to happen, Tommy has to be a dedicated student for one more grueling semester. Can he do it???? He better.

Point being, once Tommy graduates and moves to the Tri-Cities area, we will no longer be booking shows only for the summer, and we really hope that it will allow us to gain more of a following in our base city.

For now that will do it! Looking forward to meeting you somewhere along the dusty trail when the air is no longer freezing cold!!

Hello and thanks for stopping by! If you are looking for information regarding the movement to un-shoe horses, then you have come to the wrong place! But if you are looking for some good music, well, I think we can help you out, if I do say so myself. And if you did come seeking horse related conversation, thanks for stumbling onto our page, and please do have a look around!

We are The Barefoot Movement, an all acoustic, Americana band drawing from Bluegrass, Folk, Rock, Celtic, and various other styles that we have come across in our musical journeys. We are all currently college students, working towards our golden back up plan, should playing for tips and dinner loose its appeal.

My name is Noah, and I play fiddle and sing for the band. This summer we have been playing as many places as would open their doors for us. We've been all the way to Erie, PA, and even made a stop in the Big Apple. Mini-touring in our mini-van has given us invaluable experience and memories, and we all can say that we grew musically and as people during the past few months. With but a few shows left in the summer, we are settling down for a long year devoted to academics.

Though we'll be taking a break from performing, except for the occasional show here and there, we will still be busy recording our first full length album. (Details to come later!!) We're also working on a few other things, like getting this website a little more interactive, maybe perhaps adding a guest-book, getting our mailing list up and running, and getting better photos, videos, and other such media. Anyways, next summer we plan to play just as hard and much more than we did this summer. We will, (who am I kidding? I mean, I will) continue to update the site as news comes along. If you feel inclined to stay tuned, please do. We really appreciate the support.

Speaking of which, I'd like to take a moment to say, on behalf of myself and the rest of the barefoot gang, thank you, thank you, thank you to all the people who have come to see us this summer. To all those who have bought CDs and stickers. To all the venues who gave us the opportunity to share our music. To the folks who gave us a place to stay when we were on the road. To the folks who put gas in our car (Mom and Dad... the honorary barefooters.) And anyone else who has been there in any way. We've been really lucky so far, and we can only be grateful and hope that the same luck follows us next year. We hope the same for you too!

Thanks, and remember.... Barefoot is better!

-Noah

P.S. If you would like more information or would like to order a CD, which right now is a five song demo, featuring the songs on our music page, please send an email to info@barefoot-movement.com
